During my undergrad I used to listen to few women tech icons in the silicon valley and lines goes from Sheryl Sandberg to Marissa Mayer though they didn't build anything from scratch they ruled sometime but the other women which I was impressed by her work is Elizabeth Holmes who build her empire from scratch.
I still remember the poster on forbes magazine holding some minute tablet under a quote "The Next Steve Jobs". I was remembered this just because it has Steve Jobs on it.
"If patients were going to test their blood at home with the Theranos device to monitor how they were tolerating the drugs they were taking, there needed to be a built-in mechanism that would alert their doctors when the results came back abnormal"
It was some friday evening and I read an article regarding some journalist who wrote a book recently on an unknown famous Entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes
Back to the story she was a Stanford dropout who started her company at the age of 19 with a vision of changing the medical industry with her new device where it can take minute amount of blod and give abundant results.
This made everyone crazy because it is a new and disruptive thing to hear which would change a generation just like the iphone did.
.
Elizabeth was so confident that she is going to make it and somehow she get funded more than she expected which also made him a billionaire. Everything will workout for sure but once I read the book I came to know that it's not her who ruined herself and there are some guys around her like Sunny who is her boyfriend. His impact on her was huge because most of the decisions at Theranos was operated by Sunny because they were living together and sexually interlinked.
Rather than on concentrating on their product they concentrated on Employees and suing them and most of the decisions were again taken by sunny.
At the end they used to tell about a product but the reality is that don't have one actually, there are lot of false statements, lies and what not everything to make things work out which it can't and all things sorted out and resulted in a negative way on her.
It was known that she was linked with many important personalities in the politics of U S A from Clinton's to Obama's and I think she might be saved from all the stuff around her.
But the author exposed on of the great stories of all time and this shouldn't affect the future generation who wants to change the medical industry.
