Victor Grayevski, a polish journalist in a Polish News Agency (PAP), which is in charge of Soviet and Eastern European affairs. He was actually a Jewish and his real name was Victor Shpliman. His girl friend who is deeply in love with him, Lucia Baranovski working as a secretary to Edward Ochab, Security General of Polish communist party.
"For heroes unsung For battles untold For books unwritten For secrets unspoken And for a dream of peace never abandoned, never forgotten. " - From Mossad
When he was high on heels with his love, one day Victor visited his girl-friend Lucia at her office. All of a sudden his sight turned towards a small broucher bound in a red cover, numbered and stamped with a small inscription "Top Secret".
"What is this" he asked her.
"Oh that's the Khrushchev' speech (Nikita Khrushchev, who led the soviet union during the cold war from 1953 to 1964).
He was shocked and asked her whether he can lend it for couple of hours to which she accepted surprisingly and told him to return it by 4 pm that day. Victor read the whole speech, It was one of the best and incredible speeches he ever read.
But, it is also stunning because it is written about the massacres done by Stalin and Khrushchev is going to reveal how Stalin committed monstrous crimes and ordered the murder of millions. He was shocked, stunned and bewildered. He stood up and going back to return her. While he was going he got a crazy idea. He slowly moved to Israeli embassy. A few minutes later he was in the office of Yaacov Barmor, officially the first secretary of the embassy. He gave this broucher to him, after reading it Barmor was jaw-dropped. He told him to wait for few minutes and returned later one hour. Victor understood that he made copied out of that and never asked a question, returned it to his girl-friend on time.
One Friday, April 13 1956, in the early afternoon, Zelig Gatz enter the office of Shabok who is the secretary of Amos Manor and told him they received "some speech of Khrushchev.....at the congress". What !! Manor jumped and took the letter and read it. Though he is a Israeli he can understand Russian, he rushed into the car and went to prime ministers and gave the letter to Ben-Gurion, then PM of Israel who also can understand Russian.
They thought it is the right time to get ties with CIA (America's Intelligence Agency). After some moments they hand-overed this copied document to Mossad (Israeli intelligence) representative in Washington. He then rushed to white house and after two hands, hand-overed the document to President Eisenhower. He was stunned. Israeli's tiny spy service has obtained what the giant, sophisticated service of United States. Britain and France can't. As they realised it was genuine, they leaked it to the "New York Times" which published it on its front page on June 5 1956. This is the primary stage for the downfall of soviet union.
This didn't end the story here. No one suspected Victor and later he moved to Israel and took many jobs in the country. Soon after a KGB (Russia's Intelligence during Soviet Union) agent popped up by chance by Victor's side walk on the street. He asked him to become the agent of KGB to which victor said he will think and let him know. He told this secret to Israeli agent and they were shocked and told him to be the double agent in which he will share information of Soviets to the Israeli's.
Sometimes he said truth and false to the soviets. They believed him, trusted him. Some of his information led to invade major part of Egypt, Syria and Jordan by Israel. He was good to both countries and later awarded to "Vladimir Ilyich Lenin" which they told him to take whenever he comes to Moscow by he never came and later died at old age. Thus he made crucial contribution to both the countries. (One is communist soviet and the other is democratic Israel ).
